Position Title: Part-Time Sales Associate
Reports To: Store Manager
Department: Retail
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Range: The anticipated pay range for this position is $20.00- $25.00 per hour.

Position Summary
The Part-Time Sales Associate at Honey & Stardust delivers exceptional customer service, supports daily retail operations, and contributes to a warm, welcoming boutique environment. This role includes assisting customers with purchases, maintaining product displays, operating the point-of-sale system, and ensuring the store environment reflects the Honey & Stardust brand.
Sales Associates are expected to perform their responsibilities in compliance with company policies and all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including California wage and hour requirements (meal and rest breaks, paid sick leave, and wage statement accuracy). Team members must also maintain confidentiality and uphold Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) standards, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other regulations designed to protect employee and customer rights.
Essential Functions
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Greet customers warmly and provide an engaging, personalized shopping experience.
- Assist customers in selecting products, sharing knowledge of merchandise, and processing transactions accurately.
- Maintain store appearance, including restocking, merchandising, and organizing displays.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system, handle cash and card transactions, and follow proper cash handling procedures.
- Support inventory management by receiving, tagging, and organizing new merchandise.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and California retail labor laws (meal/rest breaks, scheduling, etc.).
- Assist with special events, promotions, or seasonal product launches as needed.
- Other duties as assigned to support the success of the store.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Prior retail, customer service, or sales experience preferred but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first approach.
- Ability to learn and share product knowledge effectively with customers.
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic math and computer proficiency; familiarity with POS systems a plus.
- Enthusiasm for fashion, lifestyle, and boutique retail trends.
Minimum Qualifications
- One to three years of retail, customer service, or clerical/administrative experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to operate a point-of-sale (POS) system and handle basic math transactions accurately.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally, if required for store events or business needs.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Work is primarily performed in a boutique retail environment with frequent customer interaction and moderate noise levels.
- Must be able to stand and move about the store for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 20 pounds as needed for stocking, merchandising, or customer assistance.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and light cleaning required to maintain store appearance.
- Some work may also be performed in an office environment, involving regular use of computers, phones, and other office equipment.
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and use hands to handle office supplies and equipment as part of administrative tasks.
